The non-profit Good Jobs Institute (GJI) was founded in 2017. Its mission is to help companies thrive by creating good jobs and to redefine what it means to run a successful business. GJI works with leaders or executives across industries interested in bringing the Good Jobs Strategy to their organizations. GJI has worked with companies across a variety of industries including retail, hospitality, restaurants, call centers, and healthcare. Nine Dean partners with the Good Jobs Institute to embed their strategic framework throughout every stage of Nine Dean’s investment process and operational practices.
The Toyota Production System Support Center (TSSC) is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. Since 1992, Toyota has shared its know-how with over 500 small to mid-sized manufacturers, government entities and non-profits involved in disaster recovery, hunger relief, healthcare and more. Nine Dean collaborates with TSSC when appropriate to support transactions maximizing available resources, improving quality and safety, and helping partners stay competitive and preserve jobs.

John D. Smith is a former PE-backed CEO and independent board director whose career spans consumer services, hospitality, gaming, restaurants, retail, and deathcare. Best known for a 3.1x MOIC exit in 16 months at Icon Parking, he combines an operator's working knowledge of value creation with boardroom experience on both sides of the table. Mr. Smith started his career at McKinsey and applied the skills he developed across Carrols (Nasdaq: TAST), Foundation Partners Group, Aaron's, Caesars, and Collective Brands.
